I have chosen to research Neoclassical Architecture for my blog two.
1 - Single author
Stillman.D.(1988). English Neoclassical Architecture.(vol 2), England, A.Zwenmer LTD.
This book offered information on the English Neoclassical Architecture and was very useful with the images and how they explain why they are important. They explained various different building types and showed the style of each building. This is going to be very useful in my studies because of the type of information that is in this book, such as the Neoclassical forms and buildings. I would say this book is well worth reading when I have the time.
2- Scholarly Journal
Papadakis.A.C, Balsey. J, & Porphyrios. D.(1987), London, Copenhagen & Athens, Neoclassical Architecture , Volume 57(3/4)
This Journal was very good and contained information about different Neoclassical buildings and the different techniques they used. It also has a lot of examples throughout the journal, which is very helpful because then it explains it through the image. I thought that this journal was useful because of the amount of useful information in it that could come in handy when I need it.
3- Edited book
Middleton. R, Watkin. D, Alison. E. C. (ed). (1980). Neoclassical and 19th century Architecture. Harry N. Abrams, Inc.
This book has European architecture of the 19th century. Also this book contains the history of architectural movements,
comprising Neo-Classicism, Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Gothic architecture. This book is very useful to me because it has a lot of useful information in it and could be well worth reading.
4- Website
Characteristics of Neoclassical Architecture/Neoclassic.(June 21st, 2009). www.neoclassic.com/characteristics-of-neoclassical-architecture.html.
This website contains information about neoclassical buildings and the neoclassical movement itself. Also it contains a lot of information on the characteristics of neoclassicism This website is very helpful to me because its all about the neoclassical times and also has other links in the website to get more information.
5-Image
The Parthenon, Athens, 5th Century BC.
The Parthenon is a Greek temple which is basically the baseline for neoclassical architecture. This image is a lot of help to my work because it has a lot of history behind it and also the unique style to the Parthenon, made it stand out for many years. Other architects copied its form and created there own temples,(eg- Pantheon, Rome;126AD(second century). The Parthenon is a guide for neoclassical buildings.
