DSDN 101 - P3 - FINAL CLIP

Here is my final clip for DSDN 101 :) I have taken all the advice from the tutors at the interm hand in and now I have put those ideas into my final clip.  I chose this song because of its instrumental beat and the fact that it fits with my clip really well with the pattern of the beat and also the high's and low's. I re-did the start as you could see in my earlier post mainly because it was really hard to see in pencil so I made it ink and also made the clip 39.23 seconds! So now it fits within the rules of this project.
Anyways....

 ENJOY!

My New Start to Project 3, (Inked)

This is just an updated version of my clip. I got told in the interm to make it more visible and less blurry. so I re-did the start of my clip because that's what they wanted me to do. (Mainly because that bit was the blurry bit.) My clip is now 40.03seconds long so just gotta shorten it by .03 of a second then ill be done. Oh, also gotta find a song and then play around with it to fir the scene well.

DSDN 111 - Final 2 images

Here are my final two images I'm going to print out to present. I choose them because of the naturalistic feeling the bring to the model and also to point out the joint and how the work through the movement of the model.

DSDN 111 - Another contact sheet but with finished product!

I'm just uploading this contact sheet because this has my finished model in it and thought id show it through a contact sheet :)

DSDN 111 - Final model ready for painting!

DSDN 101 - INTERIM FINAL (THE CLIP)

Here is my INTERIM work. So far I think it could do with some improving with the drawing at the start. The drawing could be a lot more clearer than it is at the moment and also the transitions between phases could be smooth along with the zooms in and out. But overall it's a good clip portraying the elements of "Old VS New" with a drawing of an old computer at the start and then ends up with a colorful laptop at the end. The colors are also there to portray a feeling of new and at the start its just one color portraying the fact that its old and boring. And then at the end its all colorful and bright, portraying the idea of new!

Also it says its 41 seconds but its really 40.02 seconds ;)

Enjoy!

DSDN 101 - Final image for clip.

Okay So now I have a problem.... I used a different camera for my other half of the photos and when I put the photos together they start to lag and glitch when it gets to the second part of my movie!!! I hope I can figure this out before tomorrows INTERM :(

DSDN 101 - New keyboard idea

Tuesday, 5 June 2012

DSDN - 101- My idea of a keyboard gone wrong.

Key board gone wrong :/

New idea to just using the orange keys by themselves .

DSDN 101 - Next part of clip decisions?

Okay so here is a image of an idea for next part of my clip.
I have 2 different sizes to choose from. I think going with the little one will mean the look will be much more clearer and less messy than the bigger one. Mainly because the little one is all tight together whilst the big one is spaced out and the 'K' is less effective rather than the 'K' in the little box.

I'm going to go with the little one because it's a lot more cleaner than the big one with gaps.

So from here on you will see the keys from the keyboard again but just in that smaller form. You will see this when the pictures blur back to normal. Then the camera will pan across to see the rest of the keyboard being made and then it will zoom out to see a laptop with a apple sign on it. )This isn't a final decision but well see how long the clip is.) And then that apple icon will turn into the words " A new way of seeing".
And to finish zoom into the screen of the laptop and done!

DSDN 101 - 300 Word Standpoint

My design standpoint is how technology is transforming over the years and the styles of computers changing every year. I have based this on an ‘old vs new’ basis and that was my title to my work in the first place. You can see in these two images the massive transformation in styles and also technology obviously. One is much more bulky than the other one which is a nice smooth rectangular shape. This appears to be a lot more modern than the other picture which is proving my point of ‘old vs new’. My original thoughts was to start with a really old computer, like the Analycal engine by Charles Babbage, 1837. (Lecture wk 12) Or even the commodore Pet “2001” made in 1977. (Lecture wk12) And then keep getting to newer and newer model of the computer and then finally end up with the most recent mac, so it’s kind of like time travelling. But then I want a much simpler idea because I was inspired by post-its (YouTube). This video was my main inspiration in this project and made me want to challenge myself with post it note stop motion. I thought that if I started with a plain colour first that could portray the effect of old and boring looks. Then halfway through the clip change into colours which will portray the new and good looking. I thought that choosing ‘old vs new’ was a very good idea because in some ways it’s very simple and in others it’s very complicated. Using the ‘old vs new’ idea I have come up with many ideas of how to portray this standpoint and now I think I’ve chosen the correct path for my final clip!

DSDN 101 - Stop motion so far... (teaser)

This is my stop motion so far! My next step is to create a blur at the end then un-blur the frames to end up with a laptop (A MAC) saying 'A New Way Of Seeing'.

DSDN 111 - Draft model movement.

Still need to work on the rotational movement in my model but for now I have got the up/down movement in each joint.

DSDN 111 - My idea of a hinge..

DSDN 111 - Development of final model

In these photos you can see the development in my models. I have cut them out and sanded some corners down to a smooth curve shape so when I turn the model looks nice and smooth.

DSDN 111 - New hinge plan

Okay this is my hinge plan now, I'm going to make it out of wood instead of using metal.

And here is the aftermath.. Now all I need to do is cut it into shape!

DSDN 101 - So far... till camera screwed up :l

Okay so this is the start of my stop motion but I need to start again because the camera is screwing up so I'm gonna have to buy a new one after this post. Also I think I want the drawing to be faster than it already is so it represents a sketch like motion.

DSDN 171 - Blog 5

I have chosen the ‘Wellington City Gallery’ which is located at the Civic Square. I have chosen this building because I thought that it had an Art Deco (Moderne) flare about it. Art Deco became well known because of the “great Exposition des Arts Modernes Decoratifs et Industriels” (Neocom, n.d.), which was held in Paris in 1925 and that’s were Art Deco’s name came from. The Deco style started after the First World War finished and the industrial companies grew along with Art Deco.
The Art Deco had a cubist/futurist theme to it. The building has been designed in a sleek aesthetic with a simple symmetrical shape and also a lot of geometrical shapes and patterns (Shaw & Hallett, 2008). These are some of the main features the architects liked to build in the Art Deco period. They used these types of styles to create the feeling of being futuristic and modern. The Wellington Gallery also has four mini ‘skyscraper tops’ on top of the roof of the building which was a typical Art Deco theme (Shaw & Hallett, 2008). The curved tops leading to the skyscraper tops also has a Gothic Revival impression in their forms. Back in that age this was very fashionable and simple. The Gallery has multiple columns which were inspired by the Ancient Greek period, these columns were a big fashion statement in the Art Deco movement as well.
"Art Deco is almost in contrast with Art Nouveau, with Art Nouveau being curvilinear and Art Deco being linear."(Victoria University Class time, 2012).
