DSDN 101 - 300 Word Standpoint

My design standpoint is how technology is transforming over the years and the styles of computers changing every year. I have based this on an ‘old vs new’ basis and that was my title to my work in the first place. You can see in these two images the massive transformation in styles and also technology obviously. One is much more bulky than the other one which is a nice smooth rectangular shape. This appears to be a lot more modern than the other picture which is proving my point of ‘old vs new’. My original thoughts was to start with a really old computer, like the Analycal engine by Charles Babbage, 1837. (Lecture wk 12) Or even the commodore Pet “2001” made in 1977. (Lecture wk12) And then keep getting to newer and newer model of the computer and then finally end up with the most recent mac, so it’s kind of like time travelling. But then I want a much simpler idea because I was inspired by post-its (YouTube). This video was my main inspiration in this project and made me want to challenge myself with post it note stop motion. I thought that if I started with a plain colour first that could portray the effect of old and boring looks. Then halfway through the clip change into colours which will portray the new and good looking. I thought that choosing ‘old vs new’ was a very good idea because in some ways it’s very simple and in others it’s very complicated. Using the ‘old vs new’ idea I have come up with many ideas of how to portray this standpoint and now I think I’ve chosen the correct path for my final clip!
